Agnes Theresa Mack

Agnes Theresa Mack (nee Monroe), 90, of River Edge, NJ formally of North Fort Myers, Fla and Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Hackensack Meridan Health Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ. Agnes was the beloved wife of the late Charles Joseph Mack. Cherished mother of Donna Mack-Smith and her husband Albert Smith, late Charles Mack and his late longtime companion Marylou Handlowitch, Glenn Mack and his wife Lili Hu-Mack, late Linda Mack, and Robert Mack. Devoted grandmother to Brian Smith and his wife Amanda Smith, Michelle Stone and her husband Jason Stone, Charles Mack, Robert Mack, Joseph Walker, Steven Isaacks. Devoted great grandmother to Vincent, Lindsey, Joseph, Robbie, Makensie, Brandon, Madison, Jackson, Justin, Johnny Linda, Dakota, Thadeus, Aiden, and Brooke. Agnes Theresa Mack (nee Monroe) was born on August 4, 1934, in the Margret Hague Hospital in Jersey City. Agnes is the daughter of the late John and Delia Monroe (nee Byrne), sister to the late William, John, Mary, Martin, Michael, and James. Agnes grew up and lived the majority of her life in Jersey City while raising her children as an early widow. Agnes attended St Mary’s Grammar school and St. Michael’s High School. Agnes was a devote Catholic and raised her family in the Catholic Church’s teachings. Agnes was a long-time dedicated employee of the Jersey City Board of Education and spent the later part of her career as the special assistant to the Superintendent of Schools. Agnes was a dedicated mother and cared and loved deeply for her family. Upon retirement from her employment with the Jersey City Schools Agnes move to North Fort Myers, Florida for a wonderful 21 years of deep friendships and loving relationships. Agnes spent her last 7 years back in New Jersey living with her loving son Glenn and his wife Lili in River Edge, and surrounded by family and friends that cared dearly for her. Agnes loved deeply and cared even more intensely and deserved to be loved and cared for in return. Agnes always said to try to find the joy in life, it’ll pass before we know it. Words always escape us when trying to express such a tremendous loss, Agnes Theresa Mack will be so dearly missed as a mom, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, friend, and wonderful, beautiful person. We are born to this earth and one day we will be called back, we weren’t ready to let you go, but Agnes’ time came and leaves her family with a tremendous loss. We love you, Mom. Friends and family are invited for visitation on Thursday, April 24th from 4-8PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 25th at 10AM at St. Peter the Apostle RCC in River Edge, NJ. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
