Carl P. Lee

Carl P. Lee was born on September 5, 1931 in Seoul, Korea. He passed away on the morning of May 30, 2021 at his home in Teaneck, New Jersey. He met his wife, Yeong Sil Lee, when she was 18 and he was 20. They met while his wife while he was being treated at the hospital at the Korean Air Force Academy, where she worked at a nurse. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Yeong Sil Lee, his children, Terry, Michael and Helen as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. They married four years later on October 28,1953 during the Korean War. He was accepted to the Korean Air Force Academy and graduated from the Academy in 1953 (second graduation class) after the War. He was trained as a pilot but avoided combat duties. In 1957, he was selected by the Korean Air Force to further his education in the United States to become a military trainer. He was first stationed at an air force base in Biloxi, Mississippi and then attended University of Colorado, where he received his Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering. Carl Lee retired from Air Force in 1965 and began working as an electronic engineer at Western Electronic and stayed with various companies affiliated with Western Electronic until 1990 when he retired at the age of 58. He helped to his entire family, including his parents and brothers and sisters, to immigrate to the US from South Korea in 1967. He lived in Edison, New Jersey, where he raised his children. After he retired, he lived in Monroe and Fort Lee, New Jersey and in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the time of his death, he lived in a senior living facility in Teaneck with his wife. After his retirement, he took up golf, which he enjoyed very much and played regularly with his wife and his children. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Yeong Sil Lee, his children, Terry, Michael, and Helen as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 9-11am at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck, NJ. funeral service will start at 11am. Interment to follow at Hazel Wood Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ.
