Dolores Miles

Dolores (Brown) Miles, daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude Graham, passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2025. She was 90 years old. Born in Manhattan on July 22, 1934, Dolores lived a life full of love, family, and faith. She is survived by her three children: Richard (Cindy) Brown, Donna (Joe) Telesca, and Debbie (David) Boyle. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren. Though an only child, Dolores formed deep and lasting friendships throughout her life—many of whom became like family. In May of 1953, she married the love of her life, Richard Brown. Together they raised their family in Inwood, creating a warm and loving home until Richard’s passing in 1976 after 23 years of marriage. Dolores dedicated more than 30 years of service to Columbia University, where she worked first in the Registrar’s Office and later as an Administrative Assistant. She was a passionate supporter of the Columbia Lions football team, faithfully attending games for many years. Dolores was also known for her love of reading, her incredible cooking, and her gift for hospitality—always welcoming family and friends into her home with open arms. In June 1999, Dolores found love again and married Bucky Miles. They shared many joyful years together at the Jersey Shore until his passing in 2022. Despite facing many challenges in life, including a battle with colon cancer, Dolores never complained. Her resilience was matched only by her unwavering Catholic faith, which carried her through even the most difficult times. More than anything, Dolores cherished her family and the time spent with them. She embraced her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with pride and devotion. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave and the lives she touched. Dolores’ warmth, laughter, and enduring love will forever be a part of us. She will be remembered always as the heart of our family—our forever matriarch. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 3-7 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Peter the Apostle RC Church. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY.
