Eulalia "Alice" Jimenez

Eulalia “Alice” Jimenez passed peacefully on March 21, 2015 surrounded by her family at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, New Jersey. Alice was born February 28, 1923 in New York City where she later met her husband Jim and raised her family. As a cherished wife, mother, sister and abuelita (“grandmother”), Alice was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her. Her storybook romance with her husband began at the age of 13, when Alice and Jim would take long walks together after school. Those walks became a marriage of 62 years. Love letters to “My Beloved Alice” would arrive at her doorstep from across Europe during World War II. When her husband returned, four beautiful children soon followed. Alice would create a safe haven for her family in their Jamaica Queens home, showering her sons and daughters in the unconditional love that would shape them as individuals. When she moved her family to Rockland County, her new home would become “Grandma’s house” to her four grandchildren, the place that came to define joy to her nietos y nietas. To everyone whose lives she touched, Alice will be remembered for her devotion, abundant warmth, generosity and compassion. Alice was predeceased by her sisters, Anna Martino and Mary Gonzalez, and her adored husband Joseph (“Jim”). She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Claudia Jimenez and Sonny DeGondea of Fair Lawn, NJ, Mike and Lynn Jimenez of West Hartford, CT, Bill and Terry Jimenez of Westfield, NJ, and Maddy Tilker and Natalie Knapp of Del Ray Beach, FL. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Dolly Garaventa and Dolores Pan, and her beloved grandchildren, Keith and Priyanka Jimenez, Grace and Chris Meyer, Melinda Jimenez and Chris Jimenez. The services to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ, on Saturday from 9:30am to 12:00 p.m. Alice will be laid to rest at the Garden of Memories, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Washington Township, NJ.
