Helen M. Fazio

Helen Mescall Fazio from River Edge and formerly Union City returned to her heavenly home on December 12, 2016 surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren great grandchildren, sister niece, and friends. Helen’s devotion to her family and her firm belief in Jesus supported her in her struggles and ultimately gave her peace. Helen died during her favorite time of the year, The Christmas Season. Helen was blessed with a large family and many who called her friend. Helen was predeceased by her husband Carmine (Carl 1998) her son Richard (2013) and her daughter Margaret Helen (1962). Helen loved all her children equally and unconditionally. Helen is survived by her loving daughter in law Judy of Vernon, her daughters Mary Ellen and Frank Del Nero of Toms River, Theresa and John Langevin of West Caldwell, her sons, Robert and Maureen of Washington Township, Joseph and Marilyn of New Milford, Donald and Kathleen of Hazlet, and her loving son and caregiver Carl of River Edge. Helen had six siblings and is survived by her youngest sister Maureen Sheehan and her in laws Marion Mescall, Nelida Fazio, Ben and Flora Fazio Helen was blessed with 16 grandchildren who were proud to call her gram, and 5 great grandchildren who knew her as GG they all meant the world to her. She was often seen watching football games, playing cards and talking sports with them. Helen had 30 nieces and nephews all who loved to call her Aunt Helen. Helen will also be missed in Atlantic City and Mount Airy where she often donated money. Helen was a firm believer that flowers were for the living so in lieu of flowers please make a donation to, St. Peter the Apostle Heritage Fund, 445 Fifth Ave., River Edge NJ 07661 or to SEARCH Care of Our Lady of Visitation, 234 N Farview Ave., Paramus NJ 07652. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home The family will receive friends on Thursday December 15, 2016 from 3:00 – 8:00 at The Volk Leber Funeral Home Oradell NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church in River Edge on Friday December 16, 2016 at 12:00 all are invited to meet in the gathering place to accompany Helen into church. At the request of Helen a luncheon will immediately follow her mass to be held at 1:30 at The Maywood Inn 122 W. Pleasant Ave. Maywood NJ All her family and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Helen's burial will be held the following day. Details will follow.
