Kathleen Kaplan

Kathleen (Kathy) Bailey Kaplan, born September 15th, 1959 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, August 25th of 2026. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Rosalie and Bill Bailey in 2020. Kathy is survived by her adoring husband Michael, her daughter Laura and son-in-law Alex, and beautiful granddaughter Phoebe. Kathy also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Mary Allan (Bill), Irene Maury, Bill Bailey (Siobhan), and Teri Dowling (Pat). She also leaves behind her 16 nieces and nephews and 6 grandnieces, all of whom she loved to spend her time with. Kathy was a Bergen County native, growing up in Paramus with her four siblings. She and Michael moved to Ramsey to raise Laura, where they built a wonderful life together. The Jersey Shore was always a special place to Kathy, and she was so happy to fulfill a lifelong dream of retiring there with Michael. Kathy devoted her career to caring for children and adults with disabilities, working for the Ramsey School District and Bergen County Special Services. Kathy’s unwavering warmth established her as a light for those she cared for, and she had a special way of making every person feel valued, accepted, and loved. Kathy’s caring nature was not limited to her work; it was a quality she carried into every part of her life. Kathy’s favorite place to be was wherever her family was, and a close second was the beach on a sunny day with a good book. She cherished the time spent surrounded by the people she loved most. Kathy will be remembered and forever loved by all those who knew her. Her warmth and love will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. Family and friends are invited to a memorial visiting on Sunday, August 30th from 4-8 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 31st at 12 PM at Our Lady of Visitation Church, Paramus, NJ. Inurnment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to Holiday Express, a charity that was very close to her heart.
