Lauren Michelle Zucconi

It is with great sadness that the family of Lauren Michelle Zucconi announce her passing after a 10 year battle with cancer. She was 36 years old. Lauren was born in Westwood, and grew up in Chestnut Ridge, NY. She graduated from Spring Valley HS, there she would meet the love of her life, James Robert Nash. Lauren enjoyed playing the flute, competed in gymnastics and in high school would compete in diving. She knew as a little girl she wanted to teach. She graduated from Pace University with her Bachelor of Arts, Magnum Cum Laude. There she would also receive her Masters of Science in Education. Recently she also received her Master of Arts, English Language Learning from Western Governors University. She would begin teaching diving while attending high school, then at Pace she worked as an ambassador in their Welcome Center. She would also work at the Delaney Center for Educational Enrichment along side her favorite nun, Sister Delaney. She even found time to manage the N.A.S.H band. Her teaching career would begin at St. Josephs School in Oradell. Where she taught computer education to children from Pre K3 thru 8th grade. Then in 2014, she moved to the Dumont Public Schools where she taught grades 1-5. Shortly after she started there was when she received her cancer diagnosis. This did not stop her from living her life. During those 10 years, she was able to purchase her dream home in LBI, get married to James, and became a fur mommy to Tuxedo and most recently Suki. Lauren’s loves were the beach, watching Friends and Golden Girls, tattoos and going to concerts. Her mantra was “Never, never, never give up!” and she didn’t. She leaves behind her husband James, parents JoAnne and Wayne Zucconi, brother Anthony wife Sandra and Tony, Harry, and Freddy. Grandmother Ginger Florio, Aunt Gina Florio, Uncle Kenny Stopsky, cousins Alec and Kyle Florio, Tara and James Quackenbush along with Hannah and God daughter Olivia, Nicholas Zucconi, Aunt Diane Cannon and Uncle Lenny Zucconi. As well as her in laws Susan and Joseph Nash, brothers in law Joseph and Katie with their children Max and Jade, Bryan and Marie and their children Jaxon and Lennon, and along with Johnny. Lauren's service will take place at Volk Leber Funeral Home 268 Kinderkamack Rd.
