Merry H. McGeary

Merry Hinkson McGeary departed this life on February 27, 2024. Merry was born on Friday, August 20, 1943, in beautiful Barbados. He graduated from Coleridge and Parry Secondary School in Saint Peter, Barbados. Merry had a sturdy and keen sense of humor. Merry was preceded in death by his parents Seon McGeary and Violet Hinkson McGeary, siblings; Marva Whiteman, Maclennon McGeary, Michael McGeary; brother-in-law Kaye Whiteman; mother-in-law, Janie Graham; father-in-law David Graham, Sr., and sister-in-law Juanita Graham. Merry relocated to the United States in 1980, first to Atlanta, Georgia and then to Brooklyn, New York. Once in New York Merry worked with pride for the New York Helmsley Hotel as Purchasing Director until retirement. People who met Merry would often ask him how he got his name. He jokingly replied with a smile, my mom conceived me at the “merriest” time of the year. Do the math? Merry lived his life to the fullest. Where the action was, Merry was there! He loved the sea, enjoyed playing tennis, watching cricket, dancing, traveling where he experienced diverse cultures and people watching … it is a West Indies slam. Merry is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat) Myers-McGeary of Teaneck, New Jersey; daughter Alison Dawn McGeary-Angenor and son-in-law Hans Angenor of Reading, Pennsylvania; grandson Alexander Dylan McGeary of Reading Pennsylvania; brothers John McGeary (Vickie) of Winterville, North Carolina; Joshua McGeary(Myrna) of Hempstead, New York; sisters Joy Farrel (Steven) of Speightstown Saint Peter, Barbados; Charmaine Sobers (Terry) Speightstown Saint Peter, Barbados; Euline Graham of Brooklyn, New York; sisters-in-law Veronica Logan-Green (Ronald) of Newport News, Virginia; Velma McFadden of Florence, South Carolina; brothers-in-law David Graham, Jr. (Jill) of Teaneck, New Jersey; Jerry Graham of Bergenfield, New Jersey; James Graham (Rachel) of Florence, South Carolina. Merry also leaves behind his adopted family, neighbors Carmen and Cherrieann Mason of Teaneck, New Jersey; Julian and Ann Hansil of Englewood, New Jersey; Dr. Christopher and Dedrie Banfield of Woburn, Massachusetts; Steven Sayers of Saint Michael, Barbados; Keith Franklin of Saint Philip, Barbados; Mervin Boyce of Erial, New Jersey and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
