Robert J. Baron

Bob passed away surrounded by family & loved ones at Englewood Hospital on April 7th, 2024. He was born in Teaneck to Mary & Robert Baron, growing up in Bogota with his loving sister Janet. He graduated from Bergen Catholic, Villanova, & went on to become a reporter for the Associated Press in San Francisco. After that time, he returned to NJ to pursue a law degree at Seton Hall University. Bob always tried to help his clients during his years working as a lawyer, like his father before him. He enjoyed playing golf & was an exceptionally gifted cook. A passionate reader with a brilliant mind, he loved the arts & was generous with his knowledge to all who sought out his guidance. Skilled with playing the piano from an early age, Bob always loved to play both at home & with bands for the pleasure of others. Bob especially loved to travel & planned many trips, but always with the hope of bringing joy to his family. Beloved husband to Maryann (nee; Carroll) Baron. Loving father to Bobby, Scott, Julianne, & her husband Joe. He greatly loved his children, & was especially close to nephews Jimmy & Charlie. As the years went on, his family grew to include many who knew in his kindness & charity. He loved & supported his parish as a frequent lector who cooked for the homeless & enjoyed playing piano for seniors during the time he was physically able. He suffered from Myasthenia Graves for many years, was diagnosed with CHF, but was supported by wonderful doctors & caregivers. He joined a community of fighters, & tried his best to brave a lifetime of challenges. He was a loyal friend to those who knew him best. He was a dedicated brother, uncle, & son to his mom who is still with us. He was a grateful husband, a supportive father, & a man who lived a rich life. He will be missed beyond words, & will be loved always. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 4-8PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist RCC, Leonia, NJ.
