Teuila April Halliday

Teuila A. Halliday was a blessing to all who knew her. She was kind, gracious, peaceful and caring. But most of all, Teuila loved the Lord. She touched the lives of so many people. Teuila was born on April 14, 1924 in the Bronx, NY to the late Charles and Cornelia Morris. She was affectionately known by her middle name “April”; the same month of which she was born. On Tuesday, September 29, 2015 she transitioned from this life at the age of 91 to be with the Lord, after various medical challenges. Teuila attended public schools in the Bronx and Farmville, Va. Upon graduation she returned to New York City. On Oct. 8, 1951, she married Norman Halliday, a young entrepreneur in her building, whom she met while he was delivering the Daily News throughout the building complex. Norman served as an Army soldier in World War II. From that union in 1956 they had their first and only child; a daughter April. Throughout her lifetime, she had several careers. During the War she worked for the IRS. She was an employee of Bloomstein’s Department store in Harlem, on 125th. Street. She worked in nursing at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck . She co-managed her husbands’ successful business, “Holiday Sales Company”, where she enjoyed working side by side with her husband. They moved from the Bronx in 1965 to Englewood, NJ, where she resided until her untimely passing on September 29th. She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life, her loving and devoted husband Norman Halliday, her devoted and loving daughter April Halliday, one brother John who pre-deceased her sister in law Bettie who also pre-deceased her. From a host of nieces to great, great, great nieces as well as, nephews to great, great, great nephews; too many to list by name. Including many family members, friends and neighbors. Teuila was a person who loved her family and always saw the best in everyone. She always inspired and encouraged those whose lives she touched and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. We are all better people having had her in our lives. Teuila will be greatly missed. She leaves a legacy of compassion, understanding, humility and love.
