SCHLAIER, AUDREY MERRY, age 95, of River Edge died peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Devoted and loving wife of 64 years to the late Raymond. Cherished mother of Janet-Lynn of River Edge, Raymond II & his wife Eileen of Mahwah, and Robert & his wife Lisa of River Vale. Proud “Grandma” to Matthew, Raymond III & his wife Jacqueline, Katherine Rose, James & his wife Jessica, Brittany & her husband Steven and Christopher. Thrilled “Great Grandma” to Hannah & Olivia. Audrey is the daughter of the late Louis & Rose Buesser, sister to the late Pauline & brother-in-law John Kelly, sister to Marilyn & the late Frank Centrella, sister to Louis (deceased) & sister-in-law Dorothy. Audrey graduated from Weehawken High School and worked at the First National Bank in NYC for 7 years. She made a home for her family in River Edge where she had resided since 1953. Audrey has been a member of the Women’s Club of River Edge for 60+ years and a Parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle RC Church for 69 years. Audrey loved to dance. During her senior years, she was a member of the Happy Tappers of Bergen County and the award-winning Razzmatazz Tap Troupe during her “snowbird” months in Spring Hill, FL. Her lead performance in the musical “Forty Second Street” at the age of 72 was a hallmark moment of her senior years. Audrey will always be remembered for her smile and “sparkle”. Friends and family will be received on Monday, May 23rd from 4-8 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 24th at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle RC Church, River Edge. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Township.
