John Anthony Irizarry

John Anthony Irizarry of Teaneck, NJ passed way on April 30, 2022. The son of Guadalupe and Antonia Irizarry from Puerto Rico, John was born in 1930 in Manhattan, NY, where he grew up a devoted Catholic at Saint Cecilia’s Church and Parish. After graduating from high school, John served in the US Army as a decorated PFC in occupied Germany in 1952, where he excelled in radar, radio and transiter technology. John returned to his family in the Bronx, NY and began working for IBM. While living with his parents and three sisters, John met his neighbor, Peter Sirignano. John and Peter both worked and retired from TransAmerica Interway. Their mutual love of classical music, the opera and Italian food created the foundation for a lifelong companionship that lasted until Peter’s passing in 2010. John had devoted friends and neighbors in Teaneck for over 60 years including the congregation at Saint Joseph’s Church in Bogota and his honorary membership in the Filipino American Society of Teaneck. John was a constant supportive family man who will always be remembered as everyone’s favorite “Uncle Tony”. John is predeceased by two sisters, Lydia Morales, Ramona Correa and is survived by sister, Ruth Jimenez, nine nieces and nephews, seven grand nieces and nephews, and three great grand nieces and nephews.
