Milton Edward Monro

Milton Edward Monro, (Big Ed) currently of Norwood, a longtime resident of New Milford and Manahawkin NJ, died peacefully at home, December 2, 2024, after a long illness. He was a Police Officer in New Milford, and then went on to work for Grand Union as a union carpenter and eventually was promoted to construction management. He finished his career as a Director of Construction for A&P. He was a proud member of the New Milford Volunteer Fire Department (Company #1) for over 40 years. He was elected Chief twice, served as President, and was Secretary of the Triboro Association. Upon retirement they moved to Manahawkin where his was an avid fisherman enjoying time on his boat Reel Freedom. As an active member of the Italian American Club, he was instrumental in their fundraising pasta night and was the grounds keeper. He was liked by all with his outgoing personality. He never missed a social event and was always up for a good laugh. Every dog he met, loved him especially his cherished grandpups. Big Ed is survived by his wife of 69 years Louisa (Grieco), his 3 daughters, Linda Ranges (Jeff) of Lake Wyle SC, Jo’Ann Buehler (Russell) of River Vale and Lori Reilly (Mike) of Northvale, He leaves behind his two siblings, his Sister Barbara Murphy of Midland Park and his brother Dave Monro of Bunn NC, his grandchildren Edward Bayne, Donald Bayne, Amanda Edwards (Jay), Dan Ranges (Hanne), James Ranges (Arianne), Ryan Bayne(Diana), Lyndsay DeSimone (Michael), Jimmy Buehler, Johnny Buehler (Kelly) Noelle Reilly and Shannon Reilly, and great grandchildren Louisa, Marigold, Brody, Cooper, Aksel, Callie, Grayce and Ava. He is predeceased by his parents Marion (Christopher) and Milton Monro. He will be missed by all and always be remembered for his sense of humor and his sparkling blue eyes. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the New Milford Volunteer Fire Department, 249 Center Street, New Milford NJ 07646, can be made in his memory. Friends and family are invited for visitation this Thursday, December 5 from 4-8PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. A funeral service will be held this Friday, December 6 at 11AM at the funeral home. Private cremation.
