December 30, 1950 - April 22, 2021
Sylvester Chesil Browne was born on December 30th, 1950 to Dulcina and Laman Browne. He was born in Freetown village on the Island of Antigua. On April 22nd, 2021 he departed this life. Sylvester loved to cook. And so naturally he became a chef. He worked at several hotels in Antigua. It was at Halcyon however that his talents were recognized, and he was sent on courses to perfect his craft and perfect he did. He soon became known to many as Chef. His reputation as a master chef had many craving his delicious cuisine. He migrated to the US and settled in New York City where he worked for several establishments before opening his own restaurant. Unfortunately, the restaurant had to close its doors but not before Sylvester mustered up several clients for whom he catered for over the years. The only thing Sylvester loved more than cooking was family. He looked forward to spending quality time with his grandsons yearly when he visited Antigua for Christmas. He made sure to call all his children at least once a week. He loved life, hanging with the boys at Davidsons, traveling with his wife Sharon and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Two of his children preceded him in death, Vivian Vamp Jacobs and Kalilah Browne- Alfred. Sylvester leaves to mourn his lost: wife; Sharon Browne, daughter; Jewel Jacobs Cornelius, sons; Kirk ‘Bigs’ Browne and Michael Browne, stepchildren; Sandy Cousins, Anthony Hall and Jessica Joseph, granddaughters; Jada Arroyo, Kaniah Browne, Alexis Jacobs-Cornelius, Alaina Alfred, grandsons; Ki-Jani Browne and Delano Jacobs, step-grandchildren; Na’im Hurst, Nivek Alfred, Ryan and Ethan Cousins, Anthony Hull Jr, Antwon Hull, Kanisha, Isante, and Kimani Joseph, Kodi Browne, sisters; Janette Browne-Joseph and Ernestine Simon, brothers; Scotland and Glenfield Browne, nieces; Ronis Spencer, Sylvira Broodie, Dr. Kylin, Dunica, Elica, Generis, Karen, Kerianne, Louise, Nica, Shorna and Shenette Browne, Beverly Daley, Dornette Jackson, Carolyn, Cecilia, Coleen and Olivet Reifer, Beverly Simon, Dornell Smith, and Dwayna Thomas, nephews; Rodric ‘Lion’ Browne, Emery, Imran, Jason, Raffique and Sylvan Browne, Matthew Messiah Marvin, Orson and Stanfield Reifer, Kenror, Rodney, and Xavier Simon, Colin and Dayton Smith, Tyrell Alexander, sister-in-law; Andrea, Desire and Sherry Alexander, his Cousins: the Brownes of Freetown and Newfield, the Josephs of Freetown, the families of the late Celestine Browne and Alan Browne, close friends: Alvin Stevens, Dane Knight, Nathan ‘Cuppy’ Nathaniel, Wilson Horseford of Canada, Charlie Jerrod, Vernon Bendals and Family of New Jersey, Austin Daniels, Everton ‘Pigeon’ Harris, Tyson ‘Zaza’Baltimore, Alfred ‘Big Al’ Quinland and the guys at Davidsons.
