Cecil Leslie

Cecil Fitzalbert “Fitz” Leslie, affectionately known as “Napty” was born on August 8, 1947 in Yallahs, St. Thomas, Jamaica West Indies. The son of Roland Leslie and Doris “Mum” Williams, he was a cherished brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. Known for his gentle and peaceful demeanor and his never ending generosity, he touched the lives of many who knew him. As a young man, Fitz was filled with tremendous energy. He was a devout cricket player in school, boy scout in the local church, avid fisherman, and fast car driver. He enjoyed social gatherings with friends and family, never missing an opportunity to share in their celebrations. He limitlessly offered a helping hand when needed and was loyal to those he cherished. With a passion for cars, he found employment in the automotive industry, where he developed and mastered his skills as a Mechanic. In 1985, he migrated to the United States, residing in several locations before settling in Teaneck, New Jersey. There he continued his craft as a Mechanic with Hess Corporation. After an astonishing 40 plus years in the industry, he retired in 2012. He was eager to relax and enjoy his family and friends. In his spare time, he was an active member of Club 144, a social gathering of friends and family coming together monthly in unity and strength. Known for their good times, travels and laughter, Fitz was always the first to arrive and could be counted on for stories and vivid recollection of ole time Jamaican parables and practices. One of his famous ole time phrase was “if fool don’t go to market, bad food don’t sell”. He used each opportunity in life as a teaching moment. He was passionate about his music, loved to dance and enjoyed a good meal. He was an enthusiastic and devoted lottery/scratch off ticket player and took pride in his winnings, no matter how small. On November 11th, Veteran’s Day, our “hero” was called home. He passed away comfortably and peacefully surrounded by God’s love and graces. Safe in his arms now and forever. And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” He is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Williams-Johnson (and her husband Victor Johnson) of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Coleen Williams-Skair (and her husband Llaland Skair) of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Victor Johnson, Jr. , Eboni Johnson and Jaide Skair; seven siblings, Millicent Leslie of Brooklyn, New York, Patricia Pink of Queens, New York and Mavis Leslie, Henry Leslie, Dolores Leslie, Monica Leslie, Michael Pink, all of Jamaica West Indies; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Hubert Leslie, Icilda Leslie, Carmen Leslie, Edna Leslie, Cherry Pink, Derven Pink, Dorene Pink, Dorothy Pink; and nephew Jermaine Fife. Funeral services additionally will be held in Yallahs, St. Thomas, Jamaica West Indies, followed by internment in the family plot.
