Edward J. Mulligan

Edward J Mulligan, 74, of Teaneck, NJ passed away suddenly on December 30, 2025. Ed is predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Lynch) Mulligan, siblings Michael and Colleen Mulligan and his Aunt Terese Mulligan. Ed is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 44 years Ann (Wilkinson) Mulligan; siblings Margaret Jalil, John Mulligan, Kathleen Mulligan, Patricia Howell, Charles Mulligan and Terese Mulligan; his dear brother-in-law John Wilkinson and sister-in-law Patricia Wilkinson both of Cumbria, UK, brother-in-law Raymond Fitzpatrick of Swakopmund, Namibia; cherished nieces Nina Telford and Kerry Wilkinson (UK) and nephews Steven Wilkinson (UK) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Namibia) and their families; beloved god-daughter Megan Jones of DuPont, WA; and dearest friends of over 50 years Tony and Jean Teresi and other friends too numerous to mention. Ed joined the Passaic Police Department in 1976 as a Police Officer leaving in 1979 to join the Port Authority Police of New York and New Jersey. He last worked at the Central Police Desk in Jersey City, NJ but after suffering a challenging work-related injury he retired in 2002. He remained a proud member of the Retired Police Association of the State of NY and FOP NJ Lodge #53. Later in life Ed decided to continue his education. He attended Iona College (now University) in New Rochelle, NY, graduating with a MA in history. He went on to graduate with a DA in history from St John’s University, Long Island, NY. He then became an adjunct professor, teaching for several years at Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ and Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ. Ed also was invited and served on the Teaneck Board of Adjustment for several years. Ed always had a passion for travel, history. A keen reader he was rarely seen without a book in his hands, no matter where he was. At home Ed had an extensive book collection and proudly told anyone who asked that he had indeed read every single one! He enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the daily newspapers but refused to read online publications insisting only on printed newspapers - no online publications for Ed! Ed was a devout parishioner of St Anastasia Church in Teaneck.
