James E. Kinloch

James Eric Kinloch, also known as “Jamie”, was born in New York City on June 7, 1959 from the union of James C. Kinloch and Dolores Helena Grey-Kinloch. He was the second child from this union, and along with his sister, Andrea, grew up in Harlem, New York. James was educated at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Elementary School in Manhattan, New York and Our Savior High School in the Bronx, New York. At 19 years old, he met the love of his life, Michele Thompson, also known as “Chele”. The couple began dating in 1979 and became engaged in 1984. During this time, he and his future wife enjoyed their young adulthood together where they would spend time with family and friends at events and family functions. One exciting and fun aspect of this time was his love for DJ’ing at parties while him and his future wife still attended college. He was educated at Westchester Community College, receiving an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering and then finishing his college career at The City College of New York, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. James and his future wife’s relationship became so special and close that each other’s families became like their own during their time of dating. After almost ten years of dating, they decided to extend their commitment to each other through marriage on June 18th, 1988. From this time on, they began the rest of their future together until God called him to rest on December 2, 2018. They spent their first two years of marriage exploring with each other through their travels and learning different experiences about life as adults and a married couple. On October 24th, 1990, the couple welcomed their first and only child, Dina. Throughout the years, James along with Michele, were overjoyed about raising their only child as they continued to build their life together. James loved to plan vacations and finding any fun activities for him and his family to participate in. Throughout the years, James had met so many wonderful people who were so attracted to his gentle and warm-hearted personality. Everyone had always had such kind words to say about him, as he always had kind words to say to everyone he knew. He was such a caring person to the point that he would not be able to tell someone “no” when they asked for his help. James was the type of person who always wanted to help others whenever needed, and if he could not directly help them, he would always find someone who could help the person. James had several jobs throughout his adult life. He spent nine years as a telecommunications installer at Time Warner Cable in Manhattan, New York. Following the end of this job, he decided to go back to his true passion, architecture. He then landed a job at Johnson Controls in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey where he was an Application Engineer for five years. After having two stints at this company, his final job was at Albiero Energy as a Sales Estimator. James always had wonderful things to say about this employment at this company. He loved being part of this company and loved his job so much that he most likely would have stayed with this company even well after his retirement age. After a brief two year illness, the lord called James home on December 2, 2018. Although his family and friends were very saddened and brokenhearted by his calling to the lord, they are comforted by the fact that his suffering during his illness has ended. James leaves behind to mourn his beloved wife Michele, daughter Dina, sister Andrea, Aunt Patsy, and several other aunts and cousins. His family will miss him dearly, and although they are broken hearted by his departure, they know that he is now resting in the peace of the lord. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck. Final viewing Saturday 9:30am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Englewood followed by a 10:30am funeral service. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
