Joshua C. Lawrence

Joshua Cecil Lawrence was born in Westwood, New Jersey on June 5, 1989 to the proud parents of Lancewell and Linda Lawrence. He graduated from Teaneck High School. Upon graduating, he attended college but came to the conclusion that college was not for him. Therefore, he furthered his knowledge with a skill at HoHoKus College and became a Certified Welder doing contract welding for the government. He later gained employment with All American Recycle Corporation where he worked until his untimely death. Joshua attended and later joined Victory Tabernacle Fire Baptist Holiness Church in Englewood New Jersey. Later in life, on special occasions, he attended Community Baptist Church. Joshua began following Community Baptist Church on Facebook. No one could speak or move in the house when Pastor got up to preach. He enjoyed listening to Pastor Taylor because he was funny and current with his messages. Joshua had a love and passion for motorcycles. He enjoyed tinkling with them until he was satisfied with his work. He was known as an avid collector of Nike Shoes. This passion throughout the years had him waiting in long lines, sometimes from 2:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. for the Nike Shoe Store to open. At times he waited in the cold, bitter cold, and rain to make sure he was able to purchase the newly release Nike version. He was an impeccable dresser. When he stepped out, his style had you checking him out from head to toe. Even now, can’t you imagine him saying, “Ha Ha Ha...did you check out my outfit?” Amongst his friends, Joshua was known as the “Cheap Jamaican”. He was tight with his money but openly and willingly shared with them his knowledge of obtaining credit and wealth for themselves. He was one who gave direction and correction to each of them when needed. Joshua leaves behind to mourn his absence and cherish his memory: his parents- Lancewell and Linda Lawrence, one brother Andre Akridge, one sister: Corinne Lawrence; seven aunts; nine uncles, two nephews; and one niece. Along with numerous cousins; and a host of relatives, the love of his life: Olivia Rodriguez; friends and coworkers.
